Can I request a specific nationality?

Certainly. However, the more flexible you are in your requirements the more au pairs you will be able to select from. It is best to indicate your preferences, but allow your placement coordinator to refer the best candidates for your position.

Can our au pair stay with us for more than two years?
The Government scheme only allows an Au pair to stay with you for a maximum of two years. However we would give you priority in matching another Au Pair to meet your family’s needs if you wish so that you could continue to enjoy the experience. You may want to consider having an overlap of one or two weeks – although this is more costly it means your current Au pair can help settle in your new Au pair and “show her the ropes”. This means Aupair2u can support you for many years ensuring we know what you are looking for without you having to go through the whole process again and again.

Are we required to have any kind of international background to host an au pair?
No, but it is important to have an open mind about cultural differences that will undoubtedly exist between you and your au pair. With flexibility, you will find that the opportunity to host an au pair is a wonderful learning experience for your children, your au pair and yourself.

How will my Au pair make friends?
We will provide your Au pair with contact details for other Au Pairs who are based with families either in your area or if there are none then with telephone details of others as close as we can. When they attend language school they will find many other students who are new to the country who will also be keen to make new friends.
